Things to Do

  • Lake Beckwith
    Lake Beckwith is just a mile away from Greenhorn Meadows Campground. Complete with a 1.4-mile walking path and Division of Wildlife stocked facilities, Lake Beckwith is the perfect place for walking your dog, fishing, and boating. A Colorado Fishing License is required and all dogs must be on a leash. Boat rentals are not available, but personal paddleboards, kayaks, and small boats are welcome.
  • Hollydot Golf Course
    Hollydot is Colorado City’s 18-hole public golf course. Tee times can be booked online, by phone, or in person.
  • Lake Isabel / San Isabel
    Just a twenty-minute drive up Highway 165, San Isabel is a picturesque little community nestled in the mountains alongside Lake Isabel. Lake Isabel is the perfect place to spend the afternoon fishing, kayaking, or hiking. The Lodge at San Isabel, a restaurant and general store is open Mid-May through October. A Colorado Fishing License is required to fish at the lake. Boat rentals are not available, but personal paddleboards, kayaks, and small boats are welcome.
  • Bishop’s Castle
    Want to see a castle in the mountains? Located half an hour up Highway 165, Bishop’s Castle is a stone and iron fortress nestled in the trees of the San Isabel National Forest. Wind your way through the castle’s wrought-iron stairwells through three-stories of towers and bridges. Visitors are always welcome free of charge, and the castle itself is always open.
  • Colorado City Swimming Pool
    The pool is open Monday-Saturday from June to early August and is available for open-swim in the afternoon. Bring your toddler and wade in the toddler pool or join your children in the main pool. Parties can also be scheduled on Sunday or any time after open-swim. Get 2 free passes to the pool with a paid campsite.
  • Pueblo City-County Library – Greenhorn Valley Branch
    Located within walking distance of Greenhorn Meadows Campground, the local library is the perfect place to spend time with your family. The library offers plenty of kid-friendly activities, as well as classes and events for adults and teens.
  • Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve
    Located two hours west of Colorado City, the tallest dunes in North America are the perfect place to take a day trip. Pack a lunch and spend the day hiking the dunes, sand sledding, and playing in the creek.
